Marching On
Silent March, the three year old gelding by Universal Prince continued to show his quality on Saturday with a third placing in the Sloan Sands 1600m Handicap at Morphettville. Adding further merit to his placing were the closing sectionals he recorded, given that the race was slowly run. The last 600m 34.87 was comparable to that of the flying handicap horses that ran over the shorter distance of 1200m on the same day.

Silent March has shown much promise throughout his short career with his four starts resulting in a win a three placings. His only win which came at his previous start in town was impressive as he had to overcome his position at the rear of the field in a slowly run race. His progression through his grades at these distances suggest that he is a staying type with a considerable future and a possible tilt at the classic races in South Australia in the coming months.

Darrell Ible Racing and Bloodstock initially designed the mating of Universal Prince to Spindlewood for then client Bridgeview Stud. The resultant yearling was then purchased on behalf of Gawler based trainer Ron Stokes from the Scone Yearling sale for $10,000.  Silent March now having won $25,000 dollars in his four starts, with more to come for connections.
